The Best Transitioning How To Guide Step By Step

The best safest way to transition your hair from relaxed to natural without the dreaded big chop will be to treat your hair like precious lace! When handling your hair you will have to kee

p in mind that you will be dealing with two different types of textures one relaxed and the other all natural. It’s important to keep your line of demarcation “you know that area in between your natural roots and your relaxed hair” extremely moist before attempting to style, comb, wash ,co-wash ,deep condition, or any other treatment you can think of.

To properly avoid causing possible breakage in that sensitive area use clips to separate your hair. Using clips to section off your hair will allow you to gently address one section at a time reducing your frustration. Using mist of water, rose water, leave in spray, or aloe vera juice will saturate your hair and enable you to be able to easily glide through your hair without wear and tear!

*Every transitioner should have the proper styling tools to make their lives hassle free while going through this process. You will most certainly need the following:

*Clips- To section your hair off

*Ouchless hair bands- For protective styles

*Water bottle- To keep those roots nice and moist

*Wide Tooth Comb- To properly detangle your hair from tip to root.

*Flexi rods- To create beautiful low manipulation styles or protective styles.

Transitioning Tips♥

Tip 1- Practice patience! Eventually your relaxed hair will grow out, and you will become 100% all natural.

Tip 2- Always keep your hair full of moisture particularly in the line of demarcation. Demarcation refers to the space in between your hair where your natural hair stops and your relaxed hair begins. Before combing your hair always use a moisturizing product like leave in sprays leave in conditioners, aloe vera gel, or plain water. Properly comb your hair using a wide tooth comb starting from the tips up.

Tip 3- Use less heat as much as possible to avoid heat damage and split ends. Try wearing your relaxed hair in curly styles. When you choose to wear curly styles such as: twist outs, braid outs, rod set, straw sets or bantu knots ,this will allow you to mask and camouflage your relaxed hair to perfectly blend in with your natural textured hair.

Tip 4- Use protective styles to protect your hair and retain length. Wearing your hair out constantly is never good idea. You want to protect your ends as much as you can. Try using styles like braids, two strand twist, bantu knots, bun, or french rolls.

Tip 5- Co-washing is a method that allows you to infuse your hair with moisture by using conditioner to wash your hair. Water is the most overlooked form of moisture it quiches dry hairs thirst instantly.
